Press Release-Ottawa

The Huskies traveled down I-35 Saturday to do battle with the hills. It was a tough day with the sun blazing down and the hills tower above!  The Huskies didn't back down and attacked each hill with determination and heart.  In the end they brought home 19 medals, with 2 division runners-up and one team championship.

The 7th grade girls were led by Sydney Hammett who finished in 2nd place.  Also getting medals were Fernanda Martinez in 10th, Kaylynn Melton in 12th, Abbi Everman in 14th, Kelsey Morales-Macedo in 16th, Maddy Riggs in 18th, and Morgan Brewer in 19th.  Rounding out performances for the day were Ale Perez in 23rd, Lisa Morales-Macedo in 24th, Karishma Campos in 29th, and Malerie Pyle in 30th.  The girls team finished in 2nd place overall.

The 7th grade boys were led by Sergio Velazquez in 8th.  he was joined in medals by Matthew McMillian in 15th, Jacob Rhoades in 18th, and Dany Vite in 20th.  He was followed by Brady Hilton in 25th, and Trent Howland in in 35th.  The boys finished 4th as a team.

For the 8th grade girls, both that ran were able to nab medals.  Angelica Gutierrez was through the chute in 7th place and Sarah Mayeske was the 10th place medalist.

In the 8th grade boys race Quenton Walion was the 2nd place finisher.  He was joined in the medals by Jack Lott in 5th, Owen Massaro in 6th, Teddy Gilmore in 13th, Isaac Hopkins in 16th, and Grant Misse, getting the last medal, in 20th.  Finishing in 35th was Josh Mayfield.  The boys were team champions defeating the next closest team, Wheatridge 37 to 59.

The Huskies will spend the next few days recovering from this brutal course and training in preparation for their next meet Wednesday at Celebration Park.  We hope to see you all there!
