Eudora/League press release

The Huskies traveled to Eudora on a dreary Thursday to wrap up their season.  They were undaunted by the mud and muck and ran with a determination not shown yet this season.  There were 8 invitational medals brought home and 8 league awards.  There was also one invitational and league champion that broke a tough school record.

For the 7th grade girls Brenley Cunningham was the top finisher, bringing home a 5th place invitational finish.  Trinity Hudson was 27th, Stephanie Gonzalez was 48th, and Elizabeth Fielder was 73rd.    Brenley Cunningham  was a league award recipient, finishing in 2nd place for league!

The 7th grade boys ran another tough race.  Landon Comstock finished in 4th place overall and was joined in medals by Carter Beasley in 9th.  The team rounded out finishers with Ben Pahls in 22nd, Nate Wilson in 45th, Cole Darby in 49th, Nate DeForest in 69th, Nick Johnson in 74th, Justin Snyder in 76th, Eric Massaro in 81st, Diego Erives in 83rd, Jason Pitts in 90th, and Bryson Robertson in 99th.  League awards were given out with Carter Beasley taking home 6th place honors and Landon Comstock finishing in 3rd!  The boys team finished in 4th place overall and brought home a 2nd place finish as a team for league.

The 8th grade girls had Sydney Hammett earn the runner up medal for invitational.  Teammates finished as follows:  Kaylynn Melton in 22nd, Kelsey Morales-Macedo in 24th, Maddy Riggs in 27th, Abbi Everman in 29th, Malerie Pyle in 40th, Lisa Morales-Macedo in 46th, Karishma Campos in 50th, and Ale Perez in 51st.  Sydney Hammett was also the runner up in league.  The team finished 3rd for invitational and 2nd for league.

The 8th grade boys stepped to the start line with one goal in mind, take down their future teammates from Pioneer Ridge.  It was a battle to the finish, but they were edged out by 5 points for the invitational title and 4 points for the league title.  Even though they were runner-up as a team the runners still turned out some outstanding races.  Sergio Velazquez took the lead from the gun and never looked back, taking the gold medal.  He was joined in the medals by Gauge Essex in 11th, Hector Guevara in 12th, and Gustavo Hernandez-Sanchez in 14th.  Jacob Rhoades narrowly missed medals, finishing in 17th.  Matthew McMillian finished in 30th place, Dany Vite in 33rd, Manny Nwofor in 36th, Noah Wise in 37th, Jacob Russell in 47th, Ian Meyer in 49th, and Trent Howland in 58th.  Five of the boys finished with PR's.  Sergio Velazquez broke the previous school record of 11:19 finishing with a time of 11:17.39.   League awards went to Sergio Velazquez in 1st place, Gauge Essex in 7th, Hector Guevara in 8th, and Gustavo Herenandez-Sanchez in 10th.

The coaches wanted to thank the parents for lending us their kids for this season.  They have grown so much as runners, as well as in being leaders.  We are so proud of the way they represented themselves and the Husky family!  Congratulations!
