Press Release Celebration Park 9/12

The Husky Cross Country traveled out to Celebration Park Saturday morning to kick the season off and boy did they give it a good kick!  With it being the first meet they have set the bar high for the season.  Six of the 7th grade boys ran under record time and also took home first place as a team.

Starting off the day were the 7th grade girls.  They were led by Kyleigh Bobki who brought home 54th place.  She was followed by teammates Jennifer Hernandez in 66th, Sadie Chorny in 67th, and Audra Lashley in 89!

The 7th grade boys were a group to behold.  They were led by Grant Misse who set a new school record at 5:57, good for a 4th place finish and a medal.  He was followed by fellow record breakers and medalists Wrenner Brown in 8th and Isaac Hopkins in 9th.  Also breaking the record was Zach Barnett in 15th, Owen Massaro in 17th, and Quintin Walion in 27th.  Also running stunning races were Domnic Roland in 45th, Landon Truner in 48th, Josh Yates in 71st, Austin Smith in 73rd, Jhoab Orta in 74th, Jacob Riggs in 85th, Dustin Evers in 87th, and Connor Flannery in 92nd.

For the 8th grade girls the top finisher was Hanna Thomas in 20th place.  Her teammates Elizabeth Guevara was 30th and Nayeli Campos was 34th.

For the 8th grade boys Brett Harding went out at a blistering pace and posted a first mile time of 5 minutes and wasn't caught until the last 150 meters by the two closest runners.  He ended up bringing home the 3rd place medal.  Isaac Chorny was next in at 46th place and then Lathan Clark in 49th.

It was a fantastic day of running and we couldn't be prouder of how the kids did.  We will travel to Wellsville on Thursday in pursuit of more records, both personal and school!  We are Husky Strong!
