2015 Season Information

Trail Ridge Middle School Cross Country

Required forms:   You must have a completed physical, insurance waiver, and concussion form to participate in cross country.

Academics:  You must have passed 5 classes the previous quarter.  In order to remain eligible you must be passing all classes.  Every week we will check your grades.  If you are failing a class you have to bring a note from the teacher saying you are passing by Friday afternoon.  If you do not do so then you will not be allowed to run after Friday until you have passing grades again.

Philosophy:  Cross country is about having a good time, creating a healthier lifestyle, and improving your self-esteem.  You compete with yourself every day and meet.  The ultimate goal is to improve your times and endurance!

Needs:  Please come dressed as if going to PE.  You need to be wearing athletic shorts, shirts, and running shoes.  Please bring a water bottle as well.

Costs:  The only out of pocket for the season would be if you chose to order a shirt!  T-Shirts will cost $15.

Practice:  Practice begins promptly after school.  Go to the locker rooms, dress out and meet in the hallway outside the gym to warm up and stretch. We will run various distances in practices, and individuals will run different distances than others.  We will run more than 2 miles in practice.  We will conduct practice and be concluded by 4:30.  Please have rides ready to pick students up at 4:30 on the gym (Grand Star) side of the building.

Blog:  This year we will have a blog up and running to help with information you may need.  http://trailridgecrosscountry.blogspot.com/  If you have questions, the blog would be a great place to check for answers.  There will be a calendar, addresses of meets, along with dates and times of running, results, etc.

Competition:  The schedule is on the reverse side for meets.  The Huskies will compete in several meets.  Most of which occur on Thursday or Saturday (with one exception on a Wednesday).  In a meet 8th grade will run a 2 mile race and 7th grade will run a one mile race.

Coach:  Gina Roberts is the head coach.  This is her 9th year at the helm.  She can be reached at robertsg@usd231.com or by e-mail or at 856-3191 for Coach Roberts.

Approaching season

It's hard to believe that the 2015 cross country season is almost upon us.  Yet here were are, a few weeks from the start of another school year, and consequently another cross country season!  Don't forget that you need to get ALL paperwork turned in to be able to participate.  Those forms can be found here:  http://www.usd231.com/TRMS/6052-Untitled.html.  You need to have a physical completed by a physician or individual able to complete them (be sure all areas are filled out and signed by the appropriate person).  You also need an insurance waiver (same thing on signatures and filled out areas), as well as concussion form.

We will have an interest meeting on the August 18th at 2:50 in the forum and the first day of practice will be the 20th!

Press release Eudora

The Huskies took to the trail for the last time this season, traveling to Eudora for a bleak, dreary day.  What the runners were about to learn (as all 3 coaches told them) this was PERFECT running weather!  With the "perfect" running conditions, gumption, and the drive to succeed and improve the Huskies charged out today.  The only goal given to them was to go out and have fun (and be sure to run through the mud puddles and not around them)!  In a first of my coaching career (8 years for cross country) an amazing, unprecedented thing happened!  All 14 of the runners ran a best time!  It's the kind of things that may give a coach goosebumps, or even shed a tear or two!  There were also 4 new school records set today, each breaking their own personal best.  JJ Briscoe ran a blazing 11:19.62, Alyssa Farrens ran a 14:32.36, Tate Allen ran a 6:36.41, and Anna Tropansky ran 7:14.57 (also breaking records but getting beaten by a teammate were Elizabeth Guevara and Hanna Thomas)!

Overall finishes:

7th grade girls:  Anna Tropansky 21st, Elizabeth Guevara 23rd, Hanna Thomas 24th, Nayeli Campos 27th, Abbie Thomas 30th
7th grade boys:  Tate Allen 38th, Isaac Chorny 44th, Lathan Clark 45th
8th grade girls:  Alyssa Farrens 22nd, Elizabeth Velez 24th, Charlsie Solano 26th, Nayeli Rodriguez 28th
8th grade boys:  JJ Briscoe 6th, Cooper Crouch 47th

League finishes:

7th grade girls:  Anna Tropansky 16th, Elizabeth Guevara 18th, Hanna Thomas 19th, Nayeli Campos 21st, Abbie Thomas 24th (team finished 3rd)
7th grade boys:  Tate Allen 25th, Isaac Chorny 29th, Lathan Clark 30th
8th grade girls:  Alyssa Farrens 21st, Elizabeth Velez 22nd, Charlsie Solano 24th, Nayeli Rodriguez 26th
8th grade boys:  JJ Briscoe 5th, Cooper Crouch 37th

It has been an honor to work with these amazing athletes, coaches and parents this season.  I want to wish the 8th grade the best of luck on the rest of their year as Huskies and the 7th graders, I hope to see you next year!

We are asking all the runners to please bring their sweats to the meet tomorrow, as well as a change of clothes.  Rather than having to worry about uniforms over Fall Break, we would like them to turn uniforms in after they run tomorrow (hence the change of clothes).  Thanks for everything!
